INSECURITY: OSYC Berates Makinde over insensitiveness - OLADIMEJI Ibrahim

Martin Luther King Jr said and i qoute "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." It is on this note i find it imperative, necessary and germane to write an open letter to the Governor of Oyo State, H.E Engr. Seyi Makinde over the security challenges confronting the State which had claimed innocent souls ever since the inception of this administration.

I never wanted to speck a line on this issue considering its responsiveness but i regarded as the maximum how posterity would have proclaimed my silence or docility. At least, the service to humanity is the best work of life. Even if I had challenged every shape of the previous administration, I questioned not his primary responsibility which is the protection of lives and property. It was crystal clear that Ajimobi-led Administration scorecard on this was without blemish.

We knew how Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi managed the Security Challenges of the State when he came on board with the introduction of OPERATION BURST and how effective it was as at that time.

Now a year has gone under the tutelage of H.E Engr Seyi Makinde. Of course, it might be too early to score him generally but on security and judicious use of monthly Security Vote, he is a failure judging from the rampant rape cases and gross increase in the record of vices and how our minors had been illegally maltreated in the state

It saddens my heart to see the number one citizen of the state playing games ( ayo olopon) at a time like this when his people needed his help the most, a time when lives were no longer secured in a state where they lived peacefully for 8 years before. What a MALADY.

Maybe Mr Governor is not aware of the recent happenings in the State or probably he had decided to turn a deaf ears to the cries of the innocent parents whose daughters were raped, stabbed and murdered. 

Will Ayo Olopon bring back the lives of Barakat Bello, Shomuyiwa Azeezat, and Oshiagwu Grace whose lives were cut short by unknown rapist in Akinyele Local Government in the space of four weeks. Ironically, the killing of Oshiagwu Grace came after the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State relocated his office to the Local Government.

It is shameful that Oyo State is now an abode for Rapist and abductors of serial killers under the administration of Engr Seyi Makinde Led Government.

On September 25 2019, the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) wrote on the issue of insecurity in the state how how the security vote was spent but it was ignored by many illogical minds and sycophants apparently shouted it down. But with the raping and gruesome killings of Barakat Bello in Akinyele, Shomuyiwa Azeezat, and now Grace Oshiagwu, all in Akinyele Local Government, then, it becomes unpardonable to spare the Governor as a failure.

At this juncture, an estimation needs to be figured to accentuate what we are wasting as a people. Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as Governor, prudently spent N250 million monthly and security of lives and properties was not in dastard state. Kudos to the man that deserves accolades. Conversely, on resumption to office as Governor, Engr. Makinde jerked up monthly security vote from N250m to N1billion. Despite the bogus amount, the security architecture in Oyo State is speedily collapsing under the Chief Security Officer Seyi Makinde.

Dear GSM, your continuous silence on the security challenges in the state is now tantamount to TOTAL BETRAYAL as youe now trying to renege on your promise to SAFEGUARD the LIVES of the COMMON MAN on the street. The time is NOW for Mr Governor to rise up and take charge of the SECURITY CHALLENGES in the State.
